This week, I had the pleasure of speaking with Jill Joris—certified Clinical Reflexologist, Aromatherapist, and founder of ALIGN Reflex Aromas—about her expert insights on how to naturally strengthen the immune system during the chilly winter months. Check out what Jill had to say.
LARA: Jill, thank you so much for taking the time to answer a few questions about how reflexology and aromatherapy oils can help keep your immune system strong this Winter.
JILL: It’s a pleasure, Lara. I’m really looking forward to sharing my knowledge with you and your readers on a subject I’m deeply passionate about.
LARA: Excellent! Now let's talk about essential oils. Which essential oils are your go-to when you’re feeling rundown or on the edge of a cold?
JILL: I always reach for native Australian oils like Eucalyptus and Rosalina. They're powerful yet gentle allies—great for clearing the head, easing congestion, and supporting the body naturally. Honey Myrtle is another favourite for its uplifting scent, antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
LARA: What’s your favourite simple way to use essential oils at home for everyday immune support?
JILL: I love adding a few drops to my diffuser—it gently fills the space and benefits everyone at home. Just before bedtime, I like to mist myself with ALIGN Aromas Immune Support for a fresh, clear, and restful night.
LARA: Are there any oils or methods you’d suggest avoiding for those with more sensitive systems?
JILL: Absolutely—some oils can be too strong for sensitive systems, like clove or cinnamon. Less is more. Stick to calming, skin-friendly oils like Rosalina or Lavender and always dilute properly in a carrier oil when applying essential oils on your skin.
LARA: How about reflexology. How can it help support the immune system, and how often is it helpful to do?
JILL: Reflexology stimulates the lymphatic and nervous systems, encouraging better circulation, detoxification, and overall balance. Regular treatments—fortnightly or monthly—can help maintain resilience through winter. In between professional sessions, simple self-care reflexology techniques are a great way to keep the healing process going at home.
LARA: Jill, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom today. I love how approachable your advice is, and I know our readers will take away so much from it.
JILL: Thank you, Lara—it's been a real pleasure. I'm always happy to share simple ways people can take charge of their wellbeing, especially during the colder months.
